These E30 cabriolet/convertibles are exceptionally good, modern classics, especially if well looked after like this one has been.
The Mauritius blue paintwork is very good with few obvious defects and a nice shine. The interior full grey leather, piped blue is very smart and supple with only minor scuffing to the driver’s side piping. The hood is nigh on immaculate and, being manually operated, won’t suffer from the failures to which older electronic soft top mechanisms can be prone. The alloy wheels, all five of them including the spare, are excellent. In short, this is a lovely summer car but one which also provides adequate protection should it rain.
The last but one owner acquired it in 2016 and carried out the following work during his ownership of almost six years:
- rear subframe bushes
- front suspension bushes
- front brake hoses
- new clutch, slave and master cylinders
- gearbox seals front and rear
- cylinder head overhaul, valve seals, bolts and BMW head gasket
- engine sump gasket (MoT advisory dealt with)
- new radiator, viscous coupling, timing belt and pulley, water pump, thermostat (genuine BMW part).
Invoices for the above are on file. This has ensured that the BMW runs extremely well as evidenced by journeys from its late owner’s location near Cambridge to central Scotland and from there to us. Motorways, dual carriageways, A-roads and B-roads are all taken with applomb with ample power and cruising ability. The gearbox changes are good and the car stops well.
One owner had the car for over thirteen years to 2002. Extensive MoT certificate history shows a small gap of about three years from 2011 when the car stood at just over 106k miles. Prior to that, it had seen minimal mileage since 2007. Revived as indicated above it has been driven sparingly since to reach its current mileage. Highlights of its mileage history are:
- 1997 59k (DVLA)
- 2002 82K ( ” )
- 2007 105k (MoT)
- 2016 113k ( ” )
- 2023 118k ( ” )
- now 118k (odometer)
The car received a clear check from FullCarChecks in July 2023 indicating it hasn’t been scrapped, salvaged, stolen or had a plate change, has been a UK car its entire life and comes with no mileage issues. Significant past invoices include: four new tyres (2017), front brake pads, fluids, filters, etc (2016) and further evidence of services over the years.
