Fabulous, rare Alfa red GTV Cup with “CUP” registration. No. 90 out of 155 made in rhd (only 419 in total rhd and lhd).
The launch of the Alfa GTV in the mid-1990s reinstated Alfa’s sportscar credentials and the model won numerous awards in the year it was introduced. During its lifetime there were several upgrades and quite a few special editions, but the rare GTV Cup limited edition inspired by the Italian racing series is the one to have and is very scarce. This is a genuine Alfa GTV Cup; see the entry on “The GTV Cup List 3” on Alfaowner.com. All rhd versions came with the 3-litre engine with six-speed manual gearbox and were painted in Alfa red.
Besides the typical special Cup appointments of the 3.0 V6 24-valve engine with 217 to 220bhp (depending on who you read), full width front and rear spoilers, side skirts, wing vents, 17 inch 5-hole teledial alloys, black leather and b/w houndstooth cloth interior and numbered dash plaque, this car sports several extra appointments:
- Ragazzon stainless steel twin pipe exhaust – looks great, with a bark to die for and a useful extra 30bhp;
- N90 CUP personalised registration which will stay with the car (approx 20 or so of the 155 cars have a CUP reg no);
- Alpine DAB/CD/MP3/Bluetooth stereo;
- Powerflex rear suspension polybush upgrade;
- White Alfa Romeo lower body striping and Quadrifoglio badging.
The car had an HPI clear report in 2020 immediately before we acquired it. This report records the plate change in 2009 from RK52SMX, all DVLA documentation for which is on file. 119k miles, fully serviced and two tyres only a couple of thousand miles ago, the other two tyres having been replaced a few months previously. According to the previous trade vendor, over £3k was spent in 2020 on suspension, new brakes and tyres. Engine was dismantled and cylinder heads refaced at 112k in 2017 and head gasket, water pump, cam belt, auxiliary belt and tensioner and coil were all replaced at that time in work costing over £2.8k and the radiator was replaced in 2014. Cam belt was also recorded done in 2009 at 54k. Invoices for servicing and work done at Alfa specialists: Alpha (sic) & Yapps, Alfa Workshop (Jamie Porter) , Auto Lusso, Northants Alfa Romeo. Full MoT history on file, the good and the not so good which shows the car has had all issues dealt with as they arise.
Just been MoTed to April 2022 and the inevitable gravel rash dealt with.
