MGB GT (1981)

A pristine chrome-bumper MGB-GT in snapdragon yellow with a wealth of new parts. Only 65k miles on the clock and driving beautifully.

The GT edition of the MGB, designed by Pininfarina, successfully converted the original roadster body to a closed coupe with hatchback style rear tailgate, making it the more practical of the two and the all-weather version par excellence. The inclusion of a taller front windscreen was an added bonus over the roadster. Despite there being plenty to choose from, the key with these cars is to buy one with a good body and not to pay less at the outset for a rusty car in the hope of improving it later.

This late BGT is virtually pristine with added chrome bumpers and grill and correctly lowered suspension. The bright “Snapdragon” yellow paintwork is excellent as is the black leather seating. It has overdrive and “minilite” style wheels and a good car entertainment system. Work carried out in recent years includes conversion to unleaded and a stainless exhaust. A sheaf of invoices confirms a well cared for car. MOT to April 2011.
